Seven southeast Texas residents who developed osteonecrosis of the jaw after taking osteoporosis drug Fosamax are suing Merck.
In their suit, the plaintiffs allege Fosamax is "defective, dangerous to human health, unfit and unsuitable to be marketed and sold in commerce and lacked the proper warnings as to the dangers associated with its ingestion."
The suit also alleges Merck pharmaceutical reps bribed physicians to prescribe Fosamax, and that the company knew of the medication's dangerous side effect but "maliciously" marketed the drug anyway.

I know I'm a year late on this one, but had to add that I'm finding all these studies on fosamax to be eerily similar to what happened before all the other blockbuster drugs were yanked from the market. I'm reading about bone health at women to women dot com. I have to say that it seems far less frightening to take an all natural approach!
I wouldn’t mention the disease I treated with Fosamax but I am completely happy with all the effects it provides. Of course, there are side effects but you should take account of them.

I am a 59 year old female diagnosed with osteoporosis. However I have been pretty active most of my life. My doctor prescribed Fosamax and I took it for 4-5 months. After taking it, I began experiencing pain in my bones, particularly in my legs, I have quit taking it for 2 months now. I am still experiencing terrible pains in my thighs and knees that are so bad it wakes me up at night, and the pain interferes with movement during the day. None of this was occurring before taking the drug. How this "poison" got on the market is a mystery to me. I am concerned about long term effects.
